About Young at Heart Senior Citizen, Inc

A Few Words About Us

Young at Heart is a 501 C3 non-profit. YAH supports the Douglas County Senior Center’s mission to empower and preserve the independence of Seniors. All funds raised benefit Douglas County Senior programs and projects, prioritized and approved by the YAH Board of Trustees.

Events we coordinate include: Weekly and Monthly Bingos, 90+ Birthday meals, Mother’s Day Flowers, Father’s Day Treats, Birthday Parties, Fundraisers, Holiday Craft Fair, Christmas Party and Gift Bags for Homebound Seniors.   We support the Hot Soup Program, Adopt an Elder Project and the Sight Impaired Support Group. In addition, we manage the YAH Gift Shop.

Each year the Senior Center gives YAH a “wish list” of items that are not covered by their budget. YAH assists with fulfilling those wishes. We’ve provided assistance by purchasing dining room tables & kitchen equipment repairs, new equipment and software for Senior Statistics and tracking lunch visits, equipment for the Homemakers, new office furniture for the DART Office, new cabinets & counter tops for the Ceramics Room,  and so much more.   Our most important job over the next few years will be to continue to provide funds for the Hot Soup Program and to help with upgrades and new equipment for the Senior Center.
